Danceable music with lots of emotion! That is what D-tact is all about.
D-tact was born 1 november 1979. In his youth he already developed a strong passion for electronic music from artists such as Westbam, Marusha and Underworld. Many times he travelled to Germany to buy the records he couldn’t get in the Netherlands. During his search for unique music he went to a long list of techno-parties in Europe.
At the age of 20 he decided to buy his own set of turntables and started practicing. Inspired by Underworld, Steve Rachmad, Sven Vath and Richie Hawtin, he discovered that standing behind the decks is an excellent opportunity to let the audience experience the same feelings and emotions as himself.
After 2 years of practicing he performed in the b-side dj-café Veenendaal. The compliments of the crowd stimulated him to do more with his uplifting mixing skills, so he decided to start sending demos to organizations. His first performance at Technopolis Haarlem was quickly arranged, where D-tact played alongside techno-legend Joel Mull (Sweden). Two months later he performed again on Technopolis, this time with the best Dutch female dj Estroe.
In the summer of 2004 D-tact became a resident-dj at Illusion (Fascinus, Sassenheim). In the following years he performed on several dj-contests and parties such as; Twstd, Dance-Valley dj-contest, Bootleg-café, One Two Techno, DanceMania, Odessa Vinyl, Sound travels, official bevrijdingsdag afterparty (Patronaat, Haarlem) and (last but not least) Funky Buddha (Koh phangan, Thailand).
After a break in 2008, is was time for a new challenge and D-tact decided to switch from vinyl mixing to digital mixing with Traktor Pro and the Allen & Heath Xone 4D. The 4-channel setting gives him the opportunity to create new layers in to his sets, which result in a never ending flow of rhythm, baselines and melodies.
Nowadays inspired by Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Miniloque and Joris Voorn, D-tact is obsessed as never before with a combination of techno, tech-house, minimal and progressive.
So be prepared, because danceable music with lots of emotion, that is what D-tact is all about!
